Manji has long been one of my favorite manga characters, and the first custom I ever did that wasn't an original character. I'm pretty sure he has a Dragon body base, although it's been so long since I worked on him, I'm not really sure. Hand sewn and painted kimono, sculpy hair, painted resin scars, wood & twine sandals. Boford Japan did a whole line of metal Blade of the Immortal weapons, so eventually, I do plan to do a lot more customs from the series.
The biggest problem with Manji was his hair. The sculpey was super delicate, and was constantly snapping off everytime he got bumped wrong or fell over, and would have to be reglued. Finally, in the process of moving, his hair was completely shattered. I'd been using faux fur for most of my figure's hair for a while, and this seemed like the perfect reason to give it a try on Manji as well. In the end, I actually like it much better.
