So, I redid her faux-fur mohawk, and flocked the shaved sides of her head. I learned a bit from doing it the 1st time, and I think it came out even better this time. Also dug up the lighter and phone for her, which seemed a pretty perfect fit.
Oh Violet rose, I haven't forgotten about you. Since last we've seen her, she's gotten the upgrade from the old Volks Body and head to the new Original Effects Teenie body and head. I had originally planned to use the Candy head, but it just looks like it's impossible to find anywhere loose. But once I started working on it, I think the base head is actually perfect for her. So, I redid her faux-fur mohawk, and flocked the shaved sides of her head. I learned a bit from doing it the 1st time, and I think it came out even better this time. Also dug up the lighter and phone for her, which seemed a pretty perfect fit. I also finished making her syringes, which were originally from a NECA Grindhouse figure. I replaced all the tiny plastic needles with longer metal needles, and and set up a spot for them on her bag. As a blood-witch, they seemed like a pretty logical accessory. She's slowly inching closer to being finished, but I still have a ways to go. Lots of accessories to do, I need to do her tattoos, and some more details on her hoodie. I'm going to be experimenting with using weathering powders and powder pigments to do her make up, and am looking at what my options are for swapping out her eyes, and I'll be posting more pics as I go.

Almost done with my 1st Mad Max inspired Custom War Rig. I feel like it still needs some extra detail, and some more grime in the wheels, but it was looking too good not to share some pictures. I'm hoping I'll have some new pictures up from the other guys soon.
And that's right, I said 1st. If these guys are the villians, I'm working on some survivors, some wasteland heroes to go along with this set. It's too much fun to stop at just one grimy apocalyptic vehicle. As we roll into the summer, I've been keeping busy on projects, foremost on this crazy custom Mad Max apocalyptic War Rig project. I've been working pretty obsessively, and couldn't be happier. The base for my car is done along with some details: It's a Maisto R/C Rock Crawler with 1:18 scale die cast Yat Ming 1956 Chevy Bel Air body. At first, the body was way too heavy, since the original body was just a hollow plastic shell, and it would list to the side all the time. When it turned, the wheels would catch on the fenders, and it was kind of a disaster. At a friend's suggestion, I actually immobilized some of the supports with an aluminum rod and some hose clamps, and now it rips around with no problems. Now is when it starts getting really fun, as I start really griming it up, and building on all the detail that will really make it look like it lives in that world. I've also finished the first 4 members of my war clan. OK, maybe not finished, as I'm sure they'll acquire a few more weapons and details as this thing comes together. But they're looking pretty ready to start some shit, so I'd call that done for now. But that's not all! I wasn't kidding about staying busy, and I've been knocking out a few small projects along the way. I 've been wanting to update Cash for a while now, and have never been happy with his cybernetic hand. So I recently grabbed a 3D printed fan-made Transformers hand off of shapeways, painted it up, and replaced my old one. It's incredibly well designed and articulated, and a huge improvement over the original. And while I was working on it, I took the opportunity to dirty up his arm and chainsaw sword, which was long overdue. I might have a few more tweaks and updates, but I think he's almost ready for a new photo shoot, and huge updated and expanded gallery. I've also been continuing painting and weathering my 3A mini Caesers. When 3A toys did the presale for their most recent Darwin Rothchild figure, they offered bags of 20 miniature Caesar robots. They're a 1/6 scale robot for a 1/6 scale figure, and about an inch or so tall. Since I've been experimenting with different weathering powder techniques, they're great little projects. Here is my latest, along with my previous 3. The skull is done with a hand cut masking tape stencil and some spray paint. Finally, I've been wanting to do some environments and backgrounds for 1/6 scale figures, and have been looking for weathered wood drawer organizers that would look good as shelves. Finally found these at Homegoods the other day! I have tons of bits and pieces that I acquire for projects, and thought a lot of them would be better sitting on a display shelf and adding some atmosphere instead of in a box while they waited to get used. I have more digging before they look a bit more full, but you get the idea.
I've also finished redoing Lisette. New photos are shot, and as soon as I finish editing them, I should have her new gallery up. So stay tuned! Making progress on redoing Isblomma of Winter. Repainted the mask, and resigned the straps with leather and new hardware so they connect better. Overall, very happy with how she is coming along. Should have new finished gallery pics up soon!
Started on the new version of Isblomma of Winter, with Original Effect body & head. Couldn't be happier with the results. Wouldn't that just be an amazing new direction for the show to take? If Arrow just went all Lovecraftian next season? The Old Gods would really put into perspective a lot of the little problems on that show, that's for sure. But no, I'm not pitching here for the weirdest crossover in TV history, but just showing off some stuff I worked on, and throwing some attention at a couple of amazing artists I know. A friend of mine has been making incredible 3.75" figures of Tesla & Lovecraft, so I though I'd hook him up with a 1:18 scale Necronomicon for his birthday. It was just something I wanted to make, I thought Lovecraft might need, and an excuse to play a little bit in his world. Check out his work at KungFu Grip Customs here. Aliens, GI Joes, and TONS of amazing Predators. His Tesla and Lovecraft figures are some of my all time favorite customs, and Tesla's giant Wardenclyffe retro mech-armor is just incredible. I've also been helping another artist friend out on a really great project of his. The picture barely does it justice, but I still think it looks pretty damn good. He wanted to do a LED-lit multi-layerd shadow box for 1 of his pieces. So we put our heads together, and this is how it came out. In person, you get a way better sense of the depth between layers, and just how slick it looks. I figured out a few tricks to layer and light, but all art credit goes to Brian Roll, whose awesome work you can find here and here.
You can go see it in person at his booth at Wizard World in Philadelphia, so stop by and visit him if you're going to be at the show. After the show, word is it's getting signed by Stephen Amell and auctioned off at Nocking Point's Philidelphia Wine Mixer for one of his charities of choice. A little more progress on Violet Rose, so I thought she deserved some new pictures to go with the site update. New boots are more fitting than the last pair she had. Still working on little details and accessories, and designing her tattoos, but she's coming along. More pics below.
