Custom action figure and other projects

Lollipops & Whiskey Bottles

I'm always on the lookout for anything I can use for custom figures and accessories, and thought I'd share a couple of recent finds, as well as some fun pictures I got with them.

A while back, I was given these old metal dollhouse candle holders.  They're beautifully made, but came with cheap looking plastic candles.  But I recently had the idea to replace them with birthday candles.  They're perfect for 1/6 scale, and have the bonus that you can actually light them!

This pack of bottles I found at a craft store are awesome.  The square ones make a perfect whiskey bottle (I'll be making labels in photoshop soon):

And the round ones are a great addition to my witches lab for my House of Seasons figures:

Since the bottoms are rounded, I knocked together a quick little rack for them with some balsa wood and some wood stain.  About 10 minutes of work, and I love how it came out

Finally, I saw these old fashion lollipops in the dollhouse section, and couldn't resist.

Heroes of the Wasteland

If my 57 Chevy driving apocalyptic death cult are the villians of my 1:18 scale Mad Max inspired wasteland epic, then we need a group of heroes too.  Here's a quick work in progress shot of my heroes of the wasteland, a group just trying to stay alive when the whole world has gone mad.

I'm also working on a modified RV to be their home on wheels.  I found this online.  It's a kids toy from majorette, and possibly one of the coolest toys I've ever bought.  The amount of detail is insane, doors and windows all open, and there's tons of odd hidden functionality.  And it's a perfect 1:18 scale.  Seriously, it's ridiculous how excited I am about this.

The 1st modification was adding the fenced in area on the roof.  I plan to add a ton inside the fence, including an elevated sniper stand.  As I continue to add on to it, I refuse to touch the ridiculous 70's paint job.  I want it to look like they found this thing, and added on all the wasteland functionality they needed, with out any concern to aesthetics, and ended up with patchwork armor and airbrushed dolphins.  It'll be amazing.

Violet Rose (another step closer)

Oh Violet rose, I haven't forgotten about you.  Since last we've seen her, she's gotten the upgrade from the old Volks Body and head to the new Original Effects Teenie body and head.  I had originally planned to use the Candy head, but it just looks like it's impossible to find anywhere loose.  But once I started working on it, I think the base head is actually perfect for her.
So, I redid her faux-fur mohawk, and flocked the shaved sides of her head.  I learned a bit from doing it the 1st time, and I think it came out even better this time.  Also dug up the lighter and phone for her, which seemed a pretty perfect fit.

I also finished making her syringes, which were originally from a NECA Grindhouse figure.  I replaced all the tiny plastic needles with longer metal needles, and and set up a spot for them on her bag.  As a blood-witch, they seemed like a pretty logical accessory.
Picture
She's slowly inching closer to being finished, but I still have a ways to go.  Lots of accessories to do, I need to do her tattoos, and some more details on her hoodie.  I'm going to be experimenting with using weathering powders and powder pigments to do her make up, and am looking at what my options are for swapping out her eyes, and I'll be posting more pics as I go.
